Im looking for a backpacking tent. Any pointers on what brand to get? ?
I am a high school student and i attend a program in which i do 3 8 day backpacks, ice climbing, rock climbing, mountain biking, White water rafting sea kyacking, and alot of other stuff. Its called Adventure Treks. By far the most amazing experiance of my life. Anyway sorry. I want a 2 person backpacking tent so i can backpack with a buddy on my own. Im willing to spend mabye $400 or a little more tops. Anyone know a good brand and good model and if you have it, tell me how you like it and does it last? I was looking and i like alot of mountain hardware and sierra designs tents. I want it to be very light if possible. Under 5 lbs. Thanks in advance
Cheap 1-2 person backpacking tents?
Hello,I'd like to get a light 1 2 person tent suitable for moderatebackpacking, but I don't want to spend much money. I'll probably be using it mainly for 1 2 night trips on moderate difficulty trails, and in good weather to the extent one can predict that. I also may use it in car accessible campgrounds for longer periods due to high gas andan increasingly decrepit car, I am considering visiting national parks via bus and or hitchhiking, and a compact tent would be nice for that.So basically I don't need anything fancy, so long as its not junk that will fall apart on me. How cheap can one go? For example I've seen one called a Texsport Knollwood Bivy Shelter for $35 that seems like what I'd need...what do you folks think?
Are there any custom backpacking tent makers?
I am looking to get a custom made tent built to my designs and am looking to see if there are any manufactures or builders out there. Something along the lines of Feathered Friends sleeping bags or Robert Beckman bike panniers where you can have a one of a kind to your specs tent made. Thanks

Compact backpacking tent for $50?
I'm looking for a compact though not necessarily ultra lightweight backpacking tent. The folded size can't be more than 16" long. Ideally, the poles wouldn't be prone to breaking like some I've read. It needs a rainfly too.I saw the High Peak Hyperlite, along with a lot of others, and my main objection is that it might not last because of the poles. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please don't give advice on tents you haven't tried.
What backpacking tent would be right for me?
I am a big guy who is getting into backpacking. I am about 6 feet tall and weigh about 250. I have been lookking around for a 4 person backpacking tent and a lot of people have said that the Eureka Timberline 4 person would be good. Any suggestions? I need help with my whole kit from backpacks to water purification....please help because there are so many different options
